Inter – Bologna Predictions and Preview

  • On Sunday, Inter Milan defeated Venezia 1-0 to achieve their sixth consecutive Serie A win and their sixth away league victory in a row without conceding a goal – a first in their history! With key players unavailable due to injury, there’s no doubt that head coach Simone Inzaghi will be thrilled to bounce back after an agonising loss to AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final less than a week earlier.
  • This victory puts the Nerazzurri just four points behind league leaders Napoli with two games in hand ahead of facing Bologna, a team they have twice beaten 6-1 in their last three top-flight home games (with one draw). The hosts will now aim to build on all those positives to achieve three consecutive home wins for the first time in this league season.
  • However, things have not been as positive for Bologna, who drew 2-2 with Roma on Sunday after conceding a late penalty. This prompted head coach Vincenzo Italiano to claim his side had “thrown more points away”. Despite this late collapse, the Rossoblù are still just three points away from the top six in their quest for another season of European football. They are more than capable of upsetting Inter here, having defeated them twice in the last four competitive home games (with one draw and one loss).
  • Although their recent record at the San Siro remains a challenge, Bologna can take confidence from their recent form on the road. They have lost just once in their last eight away league games (with four wins and three draws). Seven of those matches saw the visitors score 2+ goals, and with the last four home league games Inter have hosted producing at least four match goals, excitement should be expected.
  • Players to watch:
    * Marcus Thuram assisted Inter’s second goal in a 2-2 home league draw last season at this venue. He will hope to get on the scoresheet again, as his last ten league strikes have come within six wins for his side.
    * Dan Ndoye’s last away league goal came in a 2-2 draw against another Italian powerhouse in Juventus. He also scored an extra-time winner in a 2-1 Coppa Italia home win at this venue in 2023.
  • Hot stat:
After the weekend, only Atalanta had scored in both halves more times than Inter (eight) and Bologna (seven) in this league campaign.
