Crvena Zvezda – Bodo/Glimt Predictions and Preview
- Red Star Belgrade is one match away from participating in the UEFA Champions League for the second time in the last century. However, to achieve this goal, the Serbian giants must defeat Bodø/Glimt, who have a 2-1 lead, in their qualification play-off.
- Despite having a decent record on the continent, including a memorable win in the European Cup in 1991, Red Star has faced some challenges recently. They have won only two out of their last seven continental home games, which could make this tie more difficult.
- On the other hand, Bodø/Glimt has never qualified for the Champions League proper before. However, they have a chance to right the wrongs of their painful tie against Dinamo Zagreb two years ago. They will be encouraged by the fact that they have only lost one of their last nine away trips in Europe, scoring at least twice in six of those matches.
- Coach Kjetil Knutsen’s side finds themselves in an unusual position among Champions League participants. They are most of the way through their domestic campaign, sitting top of the Norwegian top flight. However, their title defence has become a bit shaky on the road, as they have failed to win their last three league games on their travels despite sitting eight points clear.
- Players to watch include Hwang In-beom, who has been delivering on the assists front recently. He has set up five goals in Red Star’s last six matches, including Ognjen Mimović’s first-leg consolation.
- Isak Dybvik Määttä, 22, is making his first-ever Champions League campaign for Bodø/Glimt. He has scored in their last two games in the competition and will now try to find the net away from home for the first time since May 2022.
- Hot stat: None of Red Star’s last 33 European matches have ended in a goalless draw.
