Cadiz CF – Betis Predictions and Preview

  • Newly-appointed Cádiz manager Mauricio Pellegrino has made a slow but steady start to his tenure with the club, having registered consecutive 0-0 draws in his opening two La Liga matches to ensure the points keep ticking over. The Andalusians still find themselves within the relegation zone ahead of this latest matchday, but with only two sides in the bottom-half of the table picking up wins this past gameweek, they’ll be confident that they can bail themselves out of jail soon.
  • The Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla faithful will be keen to play their part in that endeavour here, but might not have much to cheer about with their side scoring just once in their last six league matches. Even when the goals do come, it’s not seemed enough for Cádiz this season, who are still in the midst of the lengthiest winless streak in their La Liga history after going 19 games without victory (D10, L9).
  • That’ll be music to the ears of visiting Real Betis then, who have secured just two wins across their last ten matches (D4, L4) after also dropping points in a 1-1 draw with Getafe at the weekend. Constantly sharing the spoils has really hampered Betis’ progress this season, with their result in the last round a joint league-high 11th draw of this campaign, a record they share with Mallorca and their upcoming hosts Cádiz.
  • The Green and Whites find themselves in eighth position in the standings as a result, just two points and places off the European spots. Manager Manuel Pellegrini will still likely be confident that his side can make strides towards the top-six here seeing as they’ve lost just one of the last 11 top-flight H2Hs, but having won and drawn half of the remaining ten encounters, taking all three points is far from a given.
  • Players to watch: Cádiz will be hoping that Chris Ramos can break his six-game scoring drought, seeing as he’s netted in each of the previous two H2Hs. Nabil Fekir may be the man to respond due to Betis’ current injury woes, and it may be late too, as five of his last six goals have come after the 75th minute.
  • Hot stat: Betis have seen the same half-time result replicated at full-time a league-high 18 times this season.
