Brentford – Fulham Predictions and Preview
- With safety and a fourth successive season in the Premier League now secured, Brentford are eager to end the season on a high note. However, their previous five-match unbeaten run was ended by Everton last week. Bees boss Thomas Frank admitted that their 1-0 defeat was “quite boring” as his team conceded from the only shot on target they faced!
- Hopefully, this phrase won’t apply to this Saturday’s showdown with their west London rivals, Fulham. Brentford has fared well against Fulham in recent years, having lost only two of their last ten competitive meetings (W6, D2). This record looks even better when examining home meetings, where Brentford has won each of the last four games on their own turf.
- Fulham, currently in mid-table, are in danger of ending their season on a low note. Marco Silva’s team has won just one of their last six matches (D2, L3). They have struggled on the road all season, managing fewer than three away wins in the Premier League. However, they did triumph in their last match on their travels against West Ham (2-0).
- This victory sets up the possibility of back-to-back away clean sheet victories in the league for the first time since January last year. It also means they could become the first team to win two consecutive London derbies as visitors since August 2003! However, their fourth worst away record in the division casts doubt on this outcome. Still, the possibility of a top-half finish and matching last season’s tenth place could be a motivating factor for them.
- Players to watch: Yoane Wissa has scored six goals in his last ten games for Brentford, but the team has won just once when he’s found the scoresheet in that sequence (D2, L2). Fulham wing-back Timothy Castagne has stepped up his attacking output of late, directly contributing to a goal in successive appearances. However, he hasn’t done so in three league matches in a row since September 2020.
- Hot stat: Brentford hasn’t conceded in the opening half-hour of their last six home games.
