Bournemouth – Tottenham Predictions and Preview

  • Bournemouth took advantage of Wolves’ poor discipline by scoring three penalties in a 4-2 away victory. They became the first Premier League club to score twice from the spot within the opening 18 minutes.
  • This win kept Bournemouth in a mid-table position, along with their upcoming opponents Tottenham. It also restored their chances of reaching European places.
  • Bournemouth are not worried about facing Spurs at the Vitality Stadium. They have already beaten Arsenal (2-0) and Manchester City (2-1) there this season. Now they need to establish consistency after being defeated on their own turf by Brighton (2-1). The welcome return of Antoine Semenyo should help them achieve this goal ahead of what manager Andoni Iraola calls “a very demanding month in December”.
  • Consistency is also something that Tottenham continues to struggle with after another disappointing afternoon on their own turf. Their supporters booed them off after a 1-1 draw with Fulham. This result keeps them away from the top four and has led to head coach Ange Postecoglou facing more criticism.
  • Postecoglou also admitted that they “didn’t have many options” in terms of personnel as he tries to deal with a lot of injuries and multiple competitions. Spurs can draw confidence from their last two visits to Bournemouth and their sensational 4-0 victory at Manchester City late last month. However, they have only one other away win in the Premier League this season (3-0 at Manchester United). Their overall record is W2, D1, L3.
  • Players to watch: Evanilson, a record Bournemouth signing from Porto, has scored four times since joining the team in the summer. Two of these goals came on home soil, notably the winner against Manchester City. He was brought in to replace Dominic Solanke, who returns to face his former employers and is looking to move ahead of the Brazilian in the scoring charts this term (G4, A2).
  • Hot stat: Six of the last nine head-to-heads produced over 3.5 total goals.
