Atletico Madrid – Osasuna Predictions and Preview
- It’s been an incredible run for Atlético Madrid. The team has been undefeated in all competitions for 13 games, and they are just two points away from the top of La Liga with a game in hand.
- Diego Simeone’s squad is looking to win the league for the first time since the 2020/21 season. They now aim to extend their winning streak to eight straight games in the league. The last time they achieved this was in that title-winning season!
- Atleti’s impressive form is based on their nine-game unbeaten streak at home in the league (W7, D2). They have scored five shutouts and achieved two or more goals in six of those games. However, it should be noted that the last time they lost on their own ground was to Osasuna in a surprise 4-1 defeat. This is the joint-most goals Atleti have conceded at home since 2007!
- Osasuna’s fans are unlikely to expect a similar result this time around. The team has been struggling in the league for six games (D4, L2), and they have dropped to tenth place ahead of the matchday. However, they are just behind three other teams with 25 points, so a victory here could boost their chances of finishing in Europe.
- To achieve this, Osasuna will need to improve their away record. They have only won one game on their travels this league season (D4, L3), and they have managed to score one goal or fewer in seven of those matches. Only time will tell if they can surprise Atleti again. Their surprise victory last season helped them stop a run of 11 straight league losses to the Madrid side!
- Players to watch: Atleti legend Antoine Griezmann has four goals in their last three home outings, three of which came after half-time. On the other side is Osasuna’s Lucas Torró, who scored in his team’s last La Liga game and also grabbed a goal in that 4-1 H2H rout last season.
- Hot stat: Atlético have scored at least one second-half goal in each of their last seven La Liga home games.
