Armenia – North Macedonia Predictions and Preview

  • After a positive start to their UEFA Nations League (UNL) campaign, Armenia has now lost two consecutive matches after drawing 2-2 against Faroe Islands on Thursday. However, they are still in contention for promotion, starting this round three points behind the leaders and their upcoming opponents, North Macedonia, as they aim for an immediate return to League B.
  • Armenia kicked off their current UNL campaign with a 4-1 home victory over Latvia, which marked their first successive victories on home soil since June 2022. It has been March 2021 since they last managed three consecutive home wins. Encouragingly, that streak started with a 1-0 victory over North Macedonia, when both sides last met in a UNL fixture.
  • North Macedonia’s unbeaten start to this UNL cycle puts them at the top of the standings. They ended a five-game wait for a goal before half-time with a 3-0 win over Latvia, which also brought to an end their long wait for an away win dating back to September 2023 (D1, L5)!
  • If history is any indication, the visitors’ confidence will be high. The last time North Macedonia traveled to Armenia, they won 5-0 in the FIFA World Cup qualification cycle three years ago. Since then, they have won another two home-to-home matches, including a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture in this UNL cycle. Therefore, the prospect of back-to-back away wins for the first time since March 2022 is a real possibility here.
  • Players to watch: Vahan Bichakhchyan has scored in back-to-back home matches for Armenia, with both goals coming in the opening 15 minutes of either half. Each of his last four competitive strikes have come in victories. After rounding off the scoring for North Macedonia in Latvia, Eljif Elmas has now scored each of his last three goals for club or country beyond the 76th minute.
  • Hot stat: There have been five goals scored inside the opening 15 minutes across Armenia’s last five home matches.
