MATCH PREVIEW

Eibar will attempt to bounce back after an exhausting week of results; a 4-0 league loss to Celta Vigo at home was followed by a 2-0 defeat in the Copa del Rey to Sporting Gijón. A 3-2 win over Girona on matchday eight, however, has spared the Basque side a five-game winless run.
‘Los Armeros’ have been uncharacteristically unpredictable at home this season, and manager José Luis Mendilibar will want to shake off a slew of results that have seen Eibar score just six home goals while conceding seven (W2, D1, L2).
Currently on a three-game LL winning streak, which included dispatching Real Madrid in a tight 1-0 encounter, Alavés continue to challenge Barcelona for the top-spot. With three conservative 1-0 wins this season, two of which came on the road, Alavés’ are proving no pushovers away from the Mendizorrotza.
Visiting boss Abelardo will be wary of his opposing manager however, with a 1-0 H2H away win in their last matchup stopping a potential four-game losing streak against Mendilibar (W2, L4).
In 22 previous H2H matches, Eibar have the edge over their visitors with 12 wins (W12, D3, L7) – but since 2004, Alavés have four victories at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua, with their last win breaking a five-game winless streak.
Players to watch: Experienced striker Charles has three goals, and scored a header against Alavés in 2017/18 – but was dismissed 15 minutes later.
Jonathan Calleri also has three goals this term, and scored the equaliser in Alavés’ 2-1 victory over Villarreal last time out.
Stat attack: Just four (ALA) and five (EIB) of these teams’ last 11 games (in all competitions) have seen goals in both halves.
This calendar year, Eibar have registered just four home clean sheets in the league (W5, D3, L7).
Combining the last five LL rounds, Eibar have the joint-highest number of goals conceded (11).
