Valencia will hope to finally deliver their fans a first La Liga (LL) home win of the season as they welcome Girona, a side that have just ended a five-game winless run (D3, L2) after a 2-1 home victory over Rayo last weekend.
Having drawn an astounding 80% of their league games so far, Valencia have shared the points on more occasions this league season (eight) than they did throughout last season (seven). However the hosts’ midweek 2-1 win at Ebro in the Copa del Rey may be a first step to returning to winning ways.
Another concern for the ‘Chés’ will be a lack of goals – just four in five home fixtures, and seven in LL overall. In fact Valencia’s four main forwards have scored only four league goals combined so far.
Unbeaten on the road in LL (W1, D3), Girona will travel to Estadio de Mestalla confident of their away abilities. The Catalan side have also managed to keep a clean sheet in two of their four away league matches.

Players to watch: After getting a goal on matchday one, Rodrigo Moreno has failed to find the net since – the Valencia forward had six goals by this stage last season.
With a brace last weekend against Rayo, Cristian Portu will hope to replicate the goal he scored for Girona in last season’s fixture here.
Stat attack: Just one of Valencia’s ten league games this season have produced over 2.5 goals.
However five of Girona’s ten league fixtures have ended with over 2.5 goals.
Four of the five LL teams that have visited the Mestalla this season have netted exactly one goal.
