MATCH PREVIEW

In sixth place ahead of this round, St Etienne travel to mid-table Bordeaux having lost only one of their last six Ligue 1 (L1) outings (W3, D2, L1). The hosts happen to be in contrasting form and have failed to win any of their last six L1 fixtures (D4, L2).
Bordeaux come into this game off the back of a great home performance, holding league leaders PSG to a 2-2 draw last Sunday which ended the champions’ monster winning streak! However, this game made it four straight draws for Bordeaux in L1, and also extended the Girondins’ winless run at home to three consecutive matches (D2, L1).
If the hosts fail to win this one, it will be the first time since the spring of 2016 that any Bordeaux side has gone winless in four straight home L1 fixtures. However, they boast a positive all-time H2H record at home to St Etienne (W33, D12, L11), scoring almost twice as many as they have conceded (GF 104, GA 54).
Jean-Louis Gasset’s men (STE) are in superb form, losing only three of their 14 L1 games this campaign (W6, D5, L3). While these losses came away against current top-four teams. However, the visitors have won on only one of their last eight L1 road trips (W1, D3, L4), scoring more than a solitary goal on only one occasion.
St Etienne’s recent H2H results will not bring confidence to their fans, as ‘les Verts’ have won none of their last four L1 meeting against their hosts (D1, L3), conceding at least twice on each occasion.
Players to watch: Bordeaux top scorer François Kamano (seven L1 goals) hasn’t scored in his last six L1 appearances. He will go head-to-head with St Etienne top scorer Wahbi Khazri, who has scored seven goals in the league.
Stat attack: Just one of Bordeaux’s last five home L1 fixtures has seen both teams score.
The visitors have conceded ten of their 12 away goals in the second half.
Only one of the last nine H2H L1 meetings at Bordeaux has ended level at half-time.
