MATCH PREVIEW

As a top-seeded side playing at home, Atlético are burdened by expectation, but have a record of: W7, D1, L2, from their last ten CL group home games. However, the entertainment usually has to wait, as none of those ten have seen more than 2.5 goals in the first-half.
Furthermore, Atlético have registered a clean sheet and/or scored after 70 minutes, in three of their last four home games (in all competitions).
However, these late shows come at a price, as only one of Atletico’s last ten home CL group games have seen them lead by a margin of more than 1.5 goals at the break.
4-0 winners against Atletico in the reverse encounter, Dortmund will bring a huge psychological advantage to the Spanish capital. That match was part of a run of eight matches in nine (in all competitions) that has seen Dortmund score at least twice.
Ahead of this one, Dortmund have scored first in each of their last five competitive matches (W4, D1), last losing after scoring first way back in November 2017.
Dortmund’s last two away wins have also seen them score a first-half winner, with ‘die Schwarzgelben’ scoring four of their last five competitive away goals in the 0-30 minute zone.
Players to watch: Antoine Griezmann has scored or created a goal in each of his last four competitive European home matches for Atlético.
The same could be said of ‘road warrior’ Marco Reus, a scorer or creator in each of his last four competitive away matches (both domestic and European) for Dortmund.
Stat attack: Seven out of Dortmund’s last eight competitive games have seen over 3.5 goals.
Atlético’s CL record from the last six occasions they have opened the scoring at home is: W5, D0, L1.
That noted, they have conceded equalisers in two of their last four games in that category (W1, L1).
