• Paris Saint-Germain have started the season with an almost perfect start in Ligue 1 (W5, D1) and an impressive average of four goals scored per game, but many observers were eagerly awaiting their UEFA Champions League opener which was touted by some as being the French champions’ first big test of the season. The Parisians didn’t disappoint, with two early strikes from Kylian Mbappé guiding PSG to a 2-1 victory against Juventus in midweek.
• PSG’s 3-0 win at Nantes last week extended their unbeaten top-flight run to 15 matches (W11, D4) – the longest current such run in Ligue 1 – and Christophe Galtier’s men are largely expected to make it 16 this time around, especially as they’ve won the previous 11 H2Hs against Brest! There’s potential for PSG to do so in style too, as the last five of those wins came by a 2+ goal margin.
• Whilst fans of Brest may have expected their side to struggle this season after three straight league losses to round off 2021/22, their five points and 16 goals conceded already after six rounds nonetheless still represents a concerning start to their fourth successive Ligue 1 season.
