Match Preview

Sunday’s Eredivisie action continues with the 27th clash between Heerenveen and Heracles, with the visitors holding the historical upperhand, winning 12 of the previous 26 top flight meetings between the two (W12, D6, L8).
Goals are usually assured when it comes to Heerenveen games, and they haven’t disappointed so far – both teams have scored in all four of their Eredivisie fixtures, with an average of 4.25 goals per game. Expect more here – both teams have scored in the last four H2H meetings.
Despite the goal-rush, Heerenveen have started the season slowly (W1, D2, L1), but home fans won’t be panicking yet – their team had an identical start in 2016/17, and still made the European play-off places.
However the hosts could really get their season going in this game against a Heracles team that is poor on the road – the visitors picked up just 11 points from 17 away games last term, and have one point from a possible six away from home this campaign (D1, L1).
With that being said, the Abe Lenstra was one of the few places where Heracles did pick up a point last term – in fact they have lost just once in their last seven visits here (W4, D2, L1).
Players to watch: Morten Thorsby (Heerenveen) has scored three goals in four Eredivisie starts, he comes back fresh from scoring two for Norway U21’s during the break.
Kristoffer Peterson (Heracles) has now scored in four of his last five Eredivisie starts, and is already three goals away from last season’s tally of seven in 33 games!
Stat attack: Heerenveen have had five or fewer corners in each of their last five home games.
Heracles have conceded two or more goals in seven of their last eight league games.
Heracles have failed to win 17 of their last 19 away Eredivisie games (W2, D6, L11)
