After becoming the first team to be relegated from this season’s Premier League (PL) after defeat to Crystal Palace last time out (0-2); Huddersfield at least narrowly avoided the lowest-ever PL points record, and currently sit three points above Derby’s 11-point season (2007/08).
Without a goal in four of their last six league matches, Huddersfield may play with freedom now they already know their fate. Notably, the hosts have scored just seven goals at home all season (0.44 per match average).
With just three home games remaining, the hosts must score at least three goals to even match the all-time lowest home scoring tally in the PL (Man City – ten goals in 2006/07).
Currently on a run of four wins from their last five; Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester are also unbeaten in four of their five matches against sides currently in the bottom-three (W3, D1, L1). Two of those victories against relegation-threatened sides came by a 3-1 scoreline.
Typically slow-burning, Leicester have scored 66.67% of their league goals after half-time; in addition to 80.95% of their away goals. The ‘Foxes’ have bagged an impressive 13 goals between the 76th minute and the final minute (30.95% of total home & away).
Players to watch: Steve Mounié has scored one of just two Huddersfield goals across their last five home games. Meanwhile, James Maddison has provided six goals and as many assists in his debut Leicester season; three of those assists went to top-scorer Jamie Vardy (13 goals) who has five goals from his last five starts.
Stat attack: Huddersfield have been losing at both HT/FT in five of their last seven home PL matches.
Leicester have scored at least twice, whilst Huddersfield have conceded at least twice in each side’s last three PL games, respectively.
Twelve (27.91%) of Leicester’s conceded league goals have come in the first 15 minutes of play.
