Bournemouth (W1, L4) returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield in midweek. The odds are stacked against the Dorset club this weekend, but with each of Bournemouth’s last six PL games producing over 2.5 goals, entertainment should be in order, regardless of the result.
As shown in midweek, Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side can win a match despite having just 33% possession. That victory ended a four-match losing streak that represented the ‘Cherries’ worst league run since August/September 2017.
Ahead of kick-off, Liverpool are yet to be beaten this season (W12, D3). Jürgen Klopp’s title chasers could temporarily go a point clear at the top with victory, and their defence remains superlative, with a league-low of just six goals shipped across 15 PL matches – or 0.4 per match on average.
Furthermore, the Reds have conceded just one goal in their last 368 minutes of PL football, and Klopp also has a great managerial H2H record in the PL against Howe (W4, D1, L1). Klopp’s men have scored at least three goals in three of their last four PL encounters with Bournemouth, and at least two in each of the last five.
Players to watch: Callum Wilson’s fine goalscoring form continued in midweek. The Bournemouth hitman has six goals in his last eight appearances for club and country.
Liverpool’s penalty taker, James Milner, scored in the recent win against Burnley and when he has scored, his side have never gone on to lose – (50 PL matches so far).
Stat attack: Four of Bournemouth’s last five PL matches have ended (either way) with a 2-1 scoreline.
Liverpool have won after a level half-time score in each of their last three PL matches.
However, the visitors have been winning at HT/FT in seven of their last nine H2H matches with Bournemouth.
