Nice – PSG Predictions and Preview

  • In-form Nice will aim to finish their season in style in front of their loyal fans. This will be the last time they play in front of their supporters this season. Manager Francesco Farioli has had an impressive first season in charge of the team in Ligue 1.
  • Despite other results, the team has a positive goal difference and a four-point lead over Lens in sixth place. This means that a positive result against the team from Lorient should secure a spot in the Europa League for Nice. However, the team is still aiming for a spot in the Champions League, which they can achieve if they beat Brest, who are currently fourth and four points ahead at the beginning of this round.
  • Nice has been in great form towards the end of the season. They have been undefeated in their past five league matches, winning three of them and drawing two. They would love to continue this winning streak against champions Paris Saint-Germain. The team should take confidence from the fact that they defeated Luis Enrique’s side on the road in September (3-2). This made them the only team to beat PSG in the league until this past weekend.
  • That was PSG’s only loss from the last four head-to-head matches. They also won revenge for the Parisians in the Coupe de France meeting in March (3-1). This victory also continued the visitors’ streak of netting 2+ more goals in each of those four clashes. The team scored at least once before the break in all those games. This trend appears likely to continue here, given their league-leading 38 first-half strikes this term.
  • However, their form since becoming champions does cast doubt as to whether they will add to this record further here. Despite Kylian Mbappé putting them ahead early on Sunday night, they fell to a 3-1 home defeat to Toulouse. This made it four straight competitive matches without a win (D1, L3).
  • Players to watch: Jeremie Boga has been in great form in front of the Nice home faithful, scoring three goals in his past four matches at Allianz Riviera. Vitinha has opened the scoring in two of the team’s last three away league matches.
  • Hot stat: Across Europe’s traditional big five leagues, only Serie A’s Torino (eight) have conceded fewer home league goals than Nice (nine).
