Bodo/Glimt – Jagiellonia Predictions and Preview
Bodø/Glimt: A Potential Breakthrough in European Football
- Bodø/Glimt, a Norwegian football club, has never reached the UEFA Champions League (UCL) main draw since the competition introduced a group/league phase. However, their situation might be about to change.
- Last week, the team achieved a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the first leg against Jagiellonia Białystok. This means that Kjetil Knutsen’s team is now a strong favourite in this tie, with the prize being a play-off meeting with Red Star Belgrade.
- Starting their domestic campaign in April, Bodø/Glimt is well into their stride and on course to defend their Norwegian top-flight title. This should further boost their confidence heading into the match. While they may have an advantage in terms of fitness compared to Jagiellonia, who have only played six games so far this season, Bodø/Glimt is also a formidable team to face at Aspmyra Stadium. They have lost just one of their last 11 outings there.
- Jagiellonia Białystok, on the other hand, has a remarkable recent rise in their history. They finished 14th in the Ekstraklasa in 2022/23 but sensationally won the competition for the first time ever in the previous season! Their limited domestic success historically means that their European experience is limited. However, a typically courageous display north of the Arctic Circle could keep them on course for an inaugural appearance in the main draw of a European competition.
- Players to watch:
- Since returning from injury, Kasper Høgh has recorded four goal contributions in five matches for Bodø/Glimt. He scored a goal and provided an assist to help the team to a 7-1 aggregate win over RFS in the last UCL qualifying round.
- Jesús Imaz, the Spanish forward, will also be a key player for Jagiellonia. He has started this campaign excellently with six goal involvements (G4, A2).
- Hot stat: Bodø/Glimt has not led at the break in any of their last five encounters, but they have still won three of those games (D2).
