MATCH PREVIEW

According to the FIFA rankings, there’s only eight European teams who are worse than Lithuania at football at present, and none of them feature in UEFA Nations League (UNL) League C, Group 4.
With just two victories – against Sri Lanka and Armenia – in two years (W2, D2, L13) and two-straight defeats in this competition, Lithuania are destined for bottom spot in the group. Indeed apart from those two wins, Lithuania have failed to score in 12 of the remaining 15 games they’ve played in that period.
Romania have started their UNL campaign with two-straight draws, including a good 2-2 result in Serbia last time out, which is part of a broader run of six without defeat (W4, D2). Dating back over two years, Romania have lost just once to a team currently ranked lower than them in the FIFA rankings (W9, D6, L5).
Away from home they are hard to beat, registering seven draws in their last 14 games on foreign soil (W3, L4), and losing by more than one goal just once.
Lithuania have won precisely once versus Romania in history, back in 2008, and lost each of the other 11 meetings. Just two of the 12 games have seen both sides score.
Players to watch: Striker and captain Fedor Černych with eight goals in 43 caps is probably Lithuania’s most experienced player, while George Tucudean started the last game and scored – he also has three in his last four games for CFR Cluj.
Stat attack: Lithuania haven’t managed a first-half goal at home in six games.
Seven of Lithuania’s last eight games have produced under 2.5 goals.
Fifteen of Lithuania’s last 18 games have seen one side score.
Eight of Romania’s last ten goals have come in the second-half.
Six of those eight Romanian goals have come between the 48th and 68th minutes.
