That result heightened belief that a top-half push could still be a realistic possibility but to make that move here, they will need a result against a struggling <b>Southampton</b>, while relying on favourable results elsewhere.</li>
<li class="previewLine">That could be easier said than done, as playing late on Sunday gives them less recuperation time for this midweek clash. Added to that, the ‘Eagles’ have failed to win each of their last 11 Premier League (PL) home games played on a Wednesday (D6, L5), although they’ll be hopeful of snapping that streak, as only title-chasing Liverpool have lost fewer PL home games than Palace’s one this season (W3, D4, L1).</li>
<li class="previewLine">Much like their hosts, Southampton have suffered from a midweek drop themselves, failing to win any of their last 24 PL away games on a Wednesday (D8, L16). This game is expected to be just as tough, especially given the fact that it’s now been over a month since Southampton last tasted PL victory (D2, L3).</li>
